Biographie
Dennis Muren est un créateur d'effets spéciaux américain, né le 1ᵉʳ novembre 1946 à Glendale, Californie. Il s'est fait connaître pour son travail innovant sur des films emblématiques de réalisateurs tels que Steven Spielberg, George Lucas et James Cameron. Dès son plus jeune âge, Muren s'intéresse au cinéma et aux trucages visuels. À 14 ans, ses parents lui offrent une caméra 16 mm, lui permettant de s'initier au stop motion. Pendant ses études au Pasadena City College, il réalise "Equinox", un court métrage de science-fiction, qui attire l'attention d'une société de distribution et devient un long métrage sorti en 1970. En 1976, Muren rejoint Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), le studio d'effets spéciaux fondé par George Lucas. Il y contribue aux effets spéciaux de "Star Wars", marquant le début d'une collaboration fructueuse avec Lucas et Spielberg. Son travail sur des films comme "E.T. l'extra-terrestre", "Terminator 2 : Le Jugement dernier" et "Jurassic Park" a révolutionné l'industrie des effets spéciaux, notamment par l'introduction de l'infographie pour animer les dinosaures de "Jurassic Park". Au cours de sa carrière, Dennis Muren a remporté neuf Oscars, dont huit pour les meilleurs effets visuels et un Oscar pour une réalisation technique, faisant de lui une légende vivante dans le domaine des effets spéciaux.
