Biographie
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (18 juillet 1918 - 5 décembre 2013) était un révolutionnaire, politicien et philanthrope anti-apartheid sud-africain, qui a été président de l'Afrique du Sud de 1994 à 1999. Il a été le premier directeur général noir du pays, et le premier élus lors d’élections démocratiques pleinement représentatives. Son gouvernement s'est concentré sur le démantèlement de l'héritage de l'apartheid en s'attaquant au racisme institutionnalisé et en favorisant la réconciliation raciale. Politiquement nationaliste et socialiste démocrate africain, il a été président du parti du Congrès national africain (ANC) de 1991 à 1997.
